Preparing for 100 years

In 2027, our building will turn 100.

In preparation, we are exploring a three-year capital campaign to raise funds for renovating the Pearson Room and repainting and re-carpeting the sanctuary.

Pearson Room Renovations

Overall Vision

Open the interior of the church building to the surrounding neighborhood

What is included in the renovation?

Replace the deteriorating front wall with a new wall in the same location
Existing yellow Plexiglas panels set in deteriorating wood frames will be replaced with energy-efficient double-pane clear glass windows in durable aluminum frames with roll-down shades for sun control
Improve the interior layout of the space to accommodate its various uses
Improve the outdated finishes to create a more modern and welcoming space
Replace and expand the kitchen area to improve storage and aesthetics – replace bi-fold doors with sliding doors
Remove the existing coat closet to create a presentation wall for adult forums and council meetings – add wood panel doors to conceal media equipment when not in use
Create two new large storage closets with wood sliding doors in the area near the nursery room entry – one to be used for coats, the other for Pearson Room storage.
Create a new storage cabinet at open shelf area at handicap ramp
Replace dark surfaces with lighter colors (colors and materials to be selected later by the Interior Care Team)
Update the lighting to create an open and uplifting look
Replace existing worn out carpet with flexible and durable carpet tiles to maintain current acoustic qualities

What is included in the campaign?

This will include both interior and exterior work
On the interior, we will repair cracks in the walls, repaint the walls and replace the carpeting

On the exterior, we will repair the rotting wood around the stained-glass windows and replace the yellowed protective coverings with clear, state of the art coverings
The interior care team will solicit input from the congregation on paint and carpet options
