Educational Offerings
Our mission in nurturing faith
Jesus in his great commission said,
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28: 19-20)
Jesus’ words and actions clearly teach that learning and faithfulness are bound together. We at First Lutheran Church take our responsibility to teach and to learn seriously and believe that our formation as disciples of Jesus Christ is a life-long journey.
Vacation Bible School 2026!
Our annual week of Summer Vacation Bible School is July 6th through 10th. Our robust program includes music, Bible stories, drama, arts and crafts, science, games, and more.
We welcome children ages 3 (must be potty trained) through 6th grade, and older youth can register as youth helpers.
For preschoolers, the program is 10am to 12pm. For children entering kindergarten and older, the program is from 9am to 3pm with lunch provided.
This is a free program open to any in the wider Waltham community.

Sunday School for Children
Sundays at 9:15am (September - June)
We offer Sunday school for children PreK and above. We use a curriculum that that creates deeper Bible experiences for kids with a weekly all-ages program.
Confirmation
We offer a two-year confirmation program for youth who are generally between the 7th and 10th grades. Our next program begins in September 2026. New students are welcome to enter at any time.
Youth Events: Confirmation and Post Confirmation
High School youth participate in worship and fellowship, youth retreats and service events, and often take on adult leadership roles.
Adult Forum
Sundays at 9:15am (September - June)
In this class, led by our Pastor or Vicar, we explore and discuss a variety of topics. Through Bible study, book studies, special presentations, and discussions of current issues, we attempt to be better equipped to sense God in our daily life. We welcome a variety of viewpoints.
Vacation Bible School
Each July we offer a one-week Vacation Bible Experience for children ages 3 and older. This program is geared both toward children of our congregation and of the wider community. The program is offered free of charge to participants.
Cradle Roll
"Splash! Birth to Three Faith Formation Resources," a parent newsletter, is mailed each month to families of children under the age of 3.
